Rethinking our School Entrance - Survey

Rethinking our School Entrance - Survey

Reremoana School is currently working with the NZ Police and Auckland Transport to rethink the way the school entrance operates. To assist the school, we would appreciate it if you could take the time to respond to the questions in our survey.
At this time, we are gathering information, with the aim to develop options that can then be put forward to the School, the Community, the Ministry of Education and Auckland Transport. The survey needs to be completed by the 11th of November 2016. The more responses we have, the more feedback we can use in developing a safe environment for our children.

Click here for the link to the survey.

Week 3, Term 4

Hat Super Points!
Wednesday of this week was super points day for our hats. There was one requirement to receive super points; it had to be a hat with the Reremoana Logo on it.
The points for each house follows:
Kowhai = 8 Points (Well Done! )
Totora = 4 Points
Kauri = 3 Points
Rimu = 3 Points

Field of Dreams Swimming
Room 15 are thoroughly enjoying their swimming sessions every Tuesday. The confidence and growth of the students in just two sessions is fantastic! Just a reminder to remember togs and a towel every Tuesday.

Even though Mathletics wasn't a homework requirement this week, it's still nice to check out the Mathletes in Room 15. Well done to the following students:

Week 2, Term 4

Field of Dreams Swimming

Tuesday of Week 2 marked the start of the Tui Team swimming sessions. Excitement and nervousness filled the air as we waited patiently for our turn to get into the pool. I think it is fair to say that everyone had a great time! Some even moved up some swimming levels!

Buddy Class Afternoon
On Friday afternoon, Room 15 met up with our buddy class, Room 4 for some fun in the sun! (With our hats of course!) We played a range of games with the giant parachute. Our favourite was getting the parachute as high as we could and then all piling underneath it. It was very hot inside it!

Howick Historial Village

What an awesome trip the Tui team had at Howick Historic Village on Friday, we were so lucky with the weather!
We experienced a range of different things from how classrooms were run in 1850 to cooking using a cast iron oven!
Our day was broken up into four parts; A 1850's school lesson (which was a shock to many of the children!), a scavenger hunt, a cooking lesson making scones on a wet back oven and a lesson on helpful herbs and the many uses herbs had back in 1850!

Check out of photos below!

This week, I was very impressed at how quickly Room 15 jumped straight back into routines and learning. Everyone was eager and keen to get straight back into the swing of things which was refreshing to witness!

I look forward to keeping you up to date with all the wonderful things Room 15 participate in throughout the course of the term.

Speech Finals

Today was the Years 2/3/4 speech finals.
Hana, Sophie, Dominic and Ben did a phenomenal job at presenting their speeches to parents, peers, teachers and the judges;Mrs Bellve and Ms Fothergill.
Overall, Ben came 2nd and Hana came 3rd.
It takes a lot of courage and bravery to deliver a speech in front of peers and all speech finalists should be super proud of themselves!!

IMPORTANT Student Logins - Personal Google Accounts

Student online learning at school is managed under our school domain.  Students are protected when using their designated school gmail account by our N4L filtering system. As per our school cybersafety agreement, this is the only account students are to use for their learning at school.
Should students abuse this account by using it for purposes other than learning, they will lose access to their account for a period of time (up to a week in the first instance) as a consequence.
It has come to our attention that a number of our students, including younger students, have created their own google accounts/logins as a way around this. Because these do not operate under the school’s domain, we are unable to monitor their online activity as we are able to do when the children are using their school login.
Please discuss with your child if they have an alternate account. It is our recommendation that any child with a personal account has an adult at home monitoring it.
Students found logging in with alternate accounts at school are also in breach of the cyber-safety agreement, and will also lose their login privileges as a consequence. We are being vigilant with this as our primary concern is for the safety of our students.

Week 7 - A very successful week!

This week Room 15 had the daunting task of presenting their speeches. The topics were well researched and presented excellently. It was so neat to see the enthusiasm and passion surrounding the topics as the children presented. They all did fantastically well and be super proud of themselves! Ka pai!

Tui Team Celebration
On Friday afternoon, the Tui team had a celebration to share all the fascinating and interesting learning that has been going on. Room 15 shared our inquiry Triorama's that we are so proud of. Take a look below!

Week 4

This week Room 15 started our their science inquiry. We started brainstorming about what materials are found in our classroom, both natural and man-made. We then started collaborating together to create a slide show on these materials. The materials we came up with were wood, metal, plastic, wool, magnets and glass. The students have been working hard on researching these materials in preparation for their presentations! Check out the photo's below of our groups working together!

Mathletes of the week

Well done Miss Kya! An exceptional effort in Mathletics this week as she made a new record for herself and the class! Her score is one of the highest scores in Mathletics for Room 15 this year! Week 3 - Bullyfree Week

How fast is this term going! Week 3 is already done and dusted.

We had an extra special focus this week on kindness and building a bullying free environment. We had many discussions around this and what this means to us as both individuals and as a whole. As a result we created a "Kindness Korowai" showing how we belong and feel safe and valued both in class and at school. We also made some bullyfree hands listing all the things we can do to help others who are experiencing unkind or bullying behaviours. Check out the cool photo of our Kindness Korowai!

To end our kindness week on a high note we celebrated with our buddy class. Look at our cool pictures below of Room 15 & Room 4 buddies!

Uniform Notice

Dear Parents/Caregivers

The weather is starting to get colder and I have noticed that students are wearing footless tights under their shorts or skivvies under their school t-shirt. Please remember that items that are worn under students school uniform need to be navy blue.

Kind regards,

Michelle Slee (Tui Team Leader)

Week 2

The week that was......

This week we had Stu come in and teach us some golf skills. We had such an awesome time learning how to hold a golf club correctly, how to hit the ball both softly and with a bit of force and also working together. We are lucky enough to have Stu come in every Wednesday to teach us! Check out the photos below!

Well done to everyone's efforts in mathletics this week. It is really impressive to see so many of you aiming high and reaching well above your required score of 1000 points. Well done! Also, congratulations to Kya for not only making it on to the leader board this week for her first time but for also being our Mathlete of the week! Second shout out to Brianna for her first time on the leader board. Top job everyone!

The first week of Term 2....

Welcome back to Term 2! We had a great first week back in Room 15 this week.
We started with the week by listening to our buddies talk about all the different things they got up to over the school break, we then used this as a platform for our writing! Check out our "Jandal" writing about where our feet took us in the holidays!

On Tuesday 2nd May we were lucky enough to experience the circus challenge that came to school. Clint demonstrated a range of different tricks and acts that even got the teachers involved! We were then lucky enough to learn how to do all sorts of exciting and difficult tricks ourselves such as spinning plates,  throwing fire sticks (without the fire) and human pyramids! Check out our photos below!
Lastly, well done to all of Room 15 for their efforts in Mathletics this week! I know most of you have sports and other commitments that takes up valuable time so it is really neat to see so many of you achieving many more points than needed on a weekly basis. Keep up the amazing work! We have a new mathlete in our top 3 this week- Well done Stazia!

Week 10

Such a long but lovely week. Especially after having two short weeks!

This week Room 15 were focussing on symmetry and spent Wednesday and Thursday morning making symmetrical art inspired by Rose Glass windows. We then took Friday to write about the process we used to create them. Take a look at the photos below!

Next Wednesday we have the Tui & Kereru Teams Orienteering Competition. Room 15 have been practicing hard and we are feeling quite confident for the big day!

This week was very competitive! We have a new comer in the top 3 this week, Well Done Miss Hannah!

Keep up the good work everyone, you all are super stars!

The short week that was....

Diversity in Room 15

It may have been a short week but that didn't stop Room 15 from achieving great things! This week, we started making our slide show based on our chosen cultures. Room 15 has such a fascinating range of cultures and we want to explore them all! Students have established the culture they identify as and have now started researching different aspects of it. It has been very interesting to see how all our cultures have different things associated to them!

Miss Koppier is feeling a wee bit sad - Our mathletics points are looking slightly lower than usual! Come on everyone, we need to bump up our scores! You should be aiming at achieving 1500 points weekly.

Well done to the following winners this week, keep it up!
