Week 4

Week Four was an exciting week for us in Room 15! We had our House Colour day on Friday which was full of laughs and excitement as we ate lunch together and then played some games in our houses. Then we had a parade around the field with our house mascots, house banners and our chants!
Everyone dressed to impress with their house colours. Take a look below!

Mathematics Cross Grouping For Tui Team

Tui Addition and Subtraction Cross Grouping Term 1

A Message from Mrs Slee.

Last year the Tui Team cross grouped for basic facts and saw great process. This term the Tui Team is trialling cross grouping for addition and subtraction, and basic facts.

Students will be split into ability groups. In order to determine students groups, we will pre test students. Once groups are formed, they will be fluid. For example if a student demonstrates competency at the stage they are working on, they will be moved to another group.

At the beginning of the year it is important that students feel comfortable and build their confidence. We know that cross grouping is a new experience for some students and will be speaking to students about everyone being on their own learning journey and the importance of being in a group where their needs are being met.

Please feel free to contact myself as the team leader if you have any questions michelles@reremoana.school or  your child’s class or mathematics teacher.

The week that was.....

In Room 15 this week, we have been focussing on how to keep ourselves safe while using chrome books and devices and what that means for us as a class. This is important as it is vital we know what it means and looks like to keep safe on a device. Our main task for our home fun this week was surrounding the rules and expectations of the student user agreement and the standard was once again set very high by the quality of work the students delivered In class, we followed the home fun task up by creating a song/skit/rap that was about a point from the agreement in a well known tune. Here is one groups performance, lets see if you can pick which point they are singing about and to which famous tune!

Mathletics
This week we have incorporated Mathletics into our daily programme alongside set tasks to complete at home for homefun. It is wonderful to see the students of Room 15 so eager to get stuck into their Mathletics on a daily basis! Here is a look at our top 5 students this week:

  1. Jimmy
  2. Vicky
  3. Rubi
  4. Spencer
  5. Ayesha

Well done these five people!

Week 1

What a fantastic first week it's been in Room 15! We've enjoyed a busy four days getting back into routines and learning about one another. Each day we learned a different game or ice breaker, and our favourite was Pass the Hoop. Ask your child to explain how it's played and see if you can get a record time at home!
